3 Months and a 1000 smiles

My sweet Jameson is 3 months old. Three months!

He is such a joy. Honestly. He is a happy boy that loves attention and adores his momma. He smiles about 80% of the time and if he's not smiling, there is something very wrong in his world- dirty, sleepy, hungry, something drastic.  He loves watching his big sister and cracks up at her moments of drama, which at age 2 are pretty often. I wonder if it will always be like this. She cries so he laughs so she cries harder he laughs harder. Oh boy.

His favorite things beside the things I mentioned already are…
peeing in a warm bath, having his shirt pulled over his head during changes, and being tickled pretty much anywhere.

Tummy time is getting better and better. He has strong head control and is starting to push up off his chest when on his belly. He is "mobile." These days, he is rarely still in the position that I left him when on his back. He moves himself in all directions, a full 180 and then complete 360s. He's fast at it too so I have to watch him close.

He's also getting more comfortable in his bumbo seat. He loves to sit up and always tries to hoist himself up if I've only propped him half way on something. He's strong. No lie. (And, yes, I'm buying a cover for the beautiful purple bumbo that used to be Cheyanne's. I just haven't yet).

He's also very much a Wood boy, a growing-very-quickly Wood boy. Three months old in 9 month clothing. Yes, nine months. When we were in Roanoke, we weighed him at 15.5 pounds. That was 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing he is more at 16 by now. I'm dying to know real measurements.

Sleep isn't fantastic around here yet but what's new there? I'm starting to believe that I just don't birth strong sleepers. Zzzzzzz…. oops sorry I fell asleep real quick. Anyways, I'm trying to commit to the Baby Wise way of doing things. I've heard enough praise stories about it that I'm trying my best to figure it out for him. So far, no luck.

But, look at that face. Who can be upset from severe sleep exhaustion when you look at him? I know I can't.

He is in his own room now. The night we came home from Virginia was his first night in his room. I was up quite a bit that night with him, but by night 2 was doing much better. I started with him in his bassinet in his crib, but seeing as he's grown so quickly, he just didn't fit in it anymore. That only lasted about 3 nights until I took the bassinet out. I love not having to tip toe in my room anymore going to bed, even if I am up more during the night.

I guess the most significant thing in Jameson's life this month was our trip to Virginia at the end of March. He met so many new people that have been waiting a long time to meet him. He is so loved and I am so blessed. He met his Skipper, all of his great-grandparents on my side, Uncle Jake and his family including cousin Libby, his Uncle Greg and girlfriend Krista, gained a little cousin Tyson, and met some of my best friends from childhood. He was a very busy kid for a few weeks.

Jameson, baby boy, I cannot express enough how very much you are loved. You bring so much happiness to us all. Your sweet toothless smile, your ball of energy early in the mornings, your love of being snuggled. All these things make each day with you better than the last.

3 Months of Personality

Seeing as Cheyanne just turned three months, I thought I should make a list of things that she has been up to recently.

Cheyanne--

  • loves her bathtime. Long gone are the days of this...
Baths and running water are very calming for her
  • laughs hysterically when its time to change clothes for the first few moments until she gets bored. Her favorite part is popping her head out of the top.
  • also loves getting her clothes taken off, especially her sleeves. We have a game where I shake her armsleeves out. She knows its coming and starts laughing before I've even touched her. Entirely too cute!
  • is not a good sleeper. She takes 3-4 naps that last about 15-20 minutes each, usually. Some days we get lucky and she'll sleep an hour or so, but those days are all too rare. And at night, she has just (in the last 2 weeks) began sleeping a 4-6 hour stretch at night then wakes to nurse at 3:30am. I put her back down around 4am which then she sleeps until 6:30-7. From that point on, we nurse every 2 hours.
  • is the worlds lightest sleeper!! I don't have a clue where she gets that from. Her daddy is the deepest sleeper ever created and I used to be pretty sound myself. I don't judge anything based on how I sleep now. Zilch is pretty close to how I sleep these days. She wakes up to the floor squeaking. Tonight she even woke up while I was writing something down with a marker. And yet, we still have her noise machine going every night when she sleeps.
  • loves to smile and lock eyes. She watches me every where I go and smiles as soon as our eyes meet.
  • loves her momma more than anyone else in the whole world. Most times she won't let anyone else even hold her once she realizes she is not in my arms. While I wish she would let my family hold her more, one day I will really miss these days when all she wanted was me. So, I'm the only one here not complaining about this right now.
  • is talking and cooing more and more every day. She is very much a talker. Oh to know what all she is trying to say. Mark my words, she will be quite the story teller and I can already see her reports coming home saying, "Cheyanne is good student, but she talks a lot in class." Just like her Momma.
  • wants to have my attention all day long and makes sure I (and everyone else in ear shot) know it.
  • still hates her Zantac medicine that I give her every morning and night. Who would like the taste of really really strong peppermint? Not my girl. But almost instantly once she takes it, I can tell the difference in her and see she feels better.
  • loves being read to, in short spurts, with big bright pictures. Thank you Aunt Sharon for her Mother Goose book. Its definitely one of our favorites. Our other favorites are of course our Read-along books by Daddy. The Night Before Christmas and Guess How Much I Miss You (Thank you too Saias for this one). She looks all around when we open her Daddy's book and he reads.
  • stays in constant motion. This little girl is not one that likes to sit still. Ever.
  • is a big open mouth kisser.
  • hates her feet covered unless she has no other option aka footie outfits. Just like her Daddy, has to have one foot out of the blanket while she sleeps.
  • gets the hiccups at least once a day (stupid acid reflux) and spits up after almost every feeding. That means lots of wardrobe changes.
  • favorite song is Jingle Bells and the wheels on the bus
So that's my 3 month old girl
