Sunny pests

I love warm weather. There is no secret about that. I love the sunshine, the heat, the beautiful flowers blooming. What I don't love about warm weather is the fact that bugs love it too. I hate all things that are creepy and crawly or buzzy or pretty much any thing that can fly or crawl by my head. (And yet I love camping- go figure). I have always had this attitude towards bugs. Its not a fear attitude, per say. Its more of a "staythehellawayfrommeyouhorriblelittlepestorIwillsmashyouintoathousandlittlepieces" attitude. ::Shiver:: Is that too much? Seriously- I will smash any little critter no matter how close it is. Close your eyes from this post my bug loving friends. Ha, who am I kidding? I don't think I have any bug loving friends, not consciously at least. That would creep me out completely!

OK, so back to the point of this entire post. No it is not just about creepy crawlies.

Yesterday was sunny, so of course we took advantage of it. After my husband has now told me multiple times that I am looking a little like a ghost, I have devoted myself to getting some color right away. In my defense, Skype does NOTHING for skin tone... Anyways, if you remember this post, I decided that I needed to get Chey her own pool. So I did. Best $7.50 I've spent in a long time.

She loves it. Put a few (or all) of her bath toys in there with her and this little girl is in swim time heaven.

All of her toys...

It was all fun and games, until... those dang creepy crawlies joined us. Actually, before we even got out there, I went and sprayed DEAD 4 yellow jackets that were buzzing around the area. Once I felt sufficiently good that there were no more living yellow jackets within a 2 mile radius, it was time to take baby girl out. Fast forward a little to when the above mentioned dang creepy crawlies joined us. Things were fine. Baby was splish splashing and chasing her toys around. I was chit chatting on the phone supervising, until she belted out a cry that had me hang up and scoop her in my arms faster than I could realize what she was crying about.

I quickly examined her and then found it.

See the red area on her back? A damn tiny sweat bee got her! Her first bee sting. :( I instantly called my mom and asked her what to do. Not knowing if baby was allergic or what I should even be looking for if there is an allergic reaction. thankfully, after several minutes of watching, the redness went away and she was completely oblivious to the pain she had just endured. But, needless to say, that ended our sunny adventure that became our sunny pest adventure.

I hate pests!

Lets end on a happy note since that was the majority of our day.

I know a lot of my posts recently have been purely about our swimming adventures, but its what we've been doing. And frankly, I don't see that ending any time soon, not for at least 3 months. :)

Swimming through the heat

Today was a scorcher. 95 degrees in May. Oh Lordy, that is a hot sign for the summer. But, shoot, I'm not pregnant this summer so bring it on I say!

My sweet baby fish and I enjoyed the sunshine by taking a dip in my grandmother's pool today. I seriously think that Cheyanne might very well be part mermaid. She even threw a mini-fit when it was time to get out of the pool because she was enjoying it so much. Seriously, who knew an eight month old could throw a fit? Hmm, I take this as a clear sign of our future to come. Breathe.

We practiced all of our swim moves that we learned in swim class. You'd never know it had been a whole month and a half since her last swim class. It was obvious that everything we she learned came back to her very quickly. I am glad that she is so comfortable in the water. After reading Sarah's post on buying her baby a little pool, I think that might be on my shopping list next time I'm at Tarjee or Walmart. I know a kid that would absolutely go bananas in it.

(These pictures are showing up little on my screen, so you may need to click on them to see them full size to truly appreciate her many faces. Gotta love the tongue...)

Diva in mermaid disguise?

Oh yeah!

Bye bye swim lessons

I hate that our her swim classes are over. They were so much fun. It gave me something to look forward to every Tuesday and Thursday. And it certainly got her excited when we started getting her bathing suit on and heading toward the car. She always knew what was coming!

We had a little bit of extra fun at our final class since we got to explore the mini indoor water park during class. Shooting water and a slide?! Who wouldn't love it? Despite the lack of photo smiles, she really did!

She even got a "diploma" after her final class... which she of course tried to eat right away.

Congrats baby girl on your graduation. Bye bye swim lessons. Pool time on our own, here we come.

Just another princess

We've got Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, and now Miss Cheyanne. She's the modern day Ariel, but waaaay cuter.

Even when she's going on minimal napping and losing her patience due to momma's last minute photoshoot before swim class. This is her "I'm tired! I'm hungry! And I'm ready to get the dang pool Mom so turn off the camera!!!" face. Cute.

Just video

Sorry that this post is just videos, but I don't think they need much commentary. Plus, I'm busy busy being productive before bedtime. Enjoy my little mermaid.

Through the lazy river

The wheels on the bus

Be sure to go back and see her first trip underwater.

Underwater

This is our exciting yet anticlimactic moment going under water tonight at swim class. I'm so glad my mom could be there tonight to video it. I don't know if Chey loved it, but she sure didn't hate it. She had a blast the entire class.

I have more videos of tonight that I'll post, I'm just waiting on them to upload to youtube. Patience Daddy...

Swim lesson #3 "wet face"

Swim class on Tuesday brought us a new adventure, face in water...eeek! Needless to say, I was a weeee bit nervous about this one. Was I pushing my luck with my little girl by making her swim in a less than warm pool, doing all kinds of new and challenging things like kicking and "swimming" in the water? So far she had been so good. But, would this be too much on my baby? How would she react???

Great! We started off slow.

A little dripping on the head, running down the back. Then...

accidentally on purpose, Momma nervously dumped practically the entire bucket of water on her head. Still, she was completely happy. A little shiver of surprise, but no fussing at all. I have the best little mermaid! We moved into the pool and continued more of the fun.

First we practiced holding on to the wall.

Then we "motorboated". Seriously, its a song we sing going around in a circle on her belly.

Then we played with the noodles to float.

Then we make our way around the lazy river (which is our favorite part! See Skipper to the left? He was there to watch with Nana.)

I like how we both look like we're concentrating really hard!

Here we are, post wet-face and no crying!

And we complete post wet-face with a little water snuggles.

Despite the fact that in none of these pictures she is smiling, she actually did really enjoy herself. Up next tomorrow, a full submersion. OH MAN! Fingers crossed!

My little mermaid

We had day two of swimming lessons today, and this time we even had a photographer with us. Thanks Nana! Cheyanne is quite the little mermaid. That girl LOVES water. On her back. On her stomach. Doesn't matter, she loves it. It is thirty minutes of pure fun with my baby girl. Enjoy the pictures while we sleep off our busy swimming day.
