3 Months and a 1000 smiles

My sweet Jameson is 3 months old. Three months!

He is such a joy. Honestly. He is a happy boy that loves attention and adores his momma. He smiles about 80% of the time and if he's not smiling, there is something very wrong in his world- dirty, sleepy, hungry, something drastic.  He loves watching his big sister and cracks up at her moments of drama, which at age 2 are pretty often. I wonder if it will always be like this. She cries so he laughs so she cries harder he laughs harder. Oh boy.

His favorite things beside the things I mentioned already are…
peeing in a warm bath, having his shirt pulled over his head during changes, and being tickled pretty much anywhere.

Tummy time is getting better and better. He has strong head control and is starting to push up off his chest when on his belly. He is "mobile." These days, he is rarely still in the position that I left him when on his back. He moves himself in all directions, a full 180 and then complete 360s. He's fast at it too so I have to watch him close.

He's also getting more comfortable in his bumbo seat. He loves to sit up and always tries to hoist himself up if I've only propped him half way on something. He's strong. No lie. (And, yes, I'm buying a cover for the beautiful purple bumbo that used to be Cheyanne's. I just haven't yet).

He's also very much a Wood boy, a growing-very-quickly Wood boy. Three months old in 9 month clothing. Yes, nine months. When we were in Roanoke, we weighed him at 15.5 pounds. That was 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing he is more at 16 by now. I'm dying to know real measurements.

Sleep isn't fantastic around here yet but what's new there? I'm starting to believe that I just don't birth strong sleepers. Zzzzzzz…. oops sorry I fell asleep real quick. Anyways, I'm trying to commit to the Baby Wise way of doing things. I've heard enough praise stories about it that I'm trying my best to figure it out for him. So far, no luck.

But, look at that face. Who can be upset from severe sleep exhaustion when you look at him? I know I can't.

He is in his own room now. The night we came home from Virginia was his first night in his room. I was up quite a bit that night with him, but by night 2 was doing much better. I started with him in his bassinet in his crib, but seeing as he's grown so quickly, he just didn't fit in it anymore. That only lasted about 3 nights until I took the bassinet out. I love not having to tip toe in my room anymore going to bed, even if I am up more during the night.

I guess the most significant thing in Jameson's life this month was our trip to Virginia at the end of March. He met so many new people that have been waiting a long time to meet him. He is so loved and I am so blessed. He met his Skipper, all of his great-grandparents on my side, Uncle Jake and his family including cousin Libby, his Uncle Greg and girlfriend Krista, gained a little cousin Tyson, and met some of my best friends from childhood. He was a very busy kid for a few weeks.

Jameson, baby boy, I cannot express enough how very much you are loved. You bring so much happiness to us all. Your sweet toothless smile, your ball of energy early in the mornings, your love of being snuggled. All these things make each day with you better than the last.

April Snow?! What the what?

I didn't mistype in that title. April. Snow. Yes. Snow in April. Only in Virginia can you have sunny skies one day. Snow 5 inches deep the next. And then in the 60s the third day. Uh, its APRIL!!! South Carolina come get me!!!!

Now I make no qualms about that fact that I hate snow. Hate is a strong word and I mean in the most literal intense way. And snow in April? Uh, h-e-double hockey sticks over here. However, when you have a 2 year old little girl who can't even lay down to take a nap because she just so excited about her first snow, its hard to truly hate it.

One day of snow never hurt anyone I guess, except for maybe the bugs that were planning on biting me in a few months when it gets warmer out. And, really, they can all gladly die for that matter! Bring on the snow!

Love this picture. Zoom in and you can see my lonely snow girl lapping up the snowflakes as they fell.

I taught her that :)

We made her first snowman, which was the first thing she said she wanted to do when we got outside, that and see Santa. This girl of mine.

We threw snowballs. For some reason, I was the target of her first snowball battle. Uh, have I told you that my girl has a serious throwing arm?

She started to get cold, but was not thrilled at the idea of going inside away from "her snow" until I bribed her with hot chocolate. She changed her mind before we finally got inside though and preferred juice to hot chocolate. Crazy snow child of mine.

I am so glad that Nana on a whim scooped up this snowsuit last year at Goodwill "just in case." I can't believe it fit. Thank you for the planning a year ago God.

Easter continued

I don't know how else to share these next pictures without 1) making it a separate post and 2) prefacing this by saying Cheyanne was hyped up on lollipops and had little to no patience for any staged pictures Easter morning.

Continue. And Enjoy.

It started off well. Jameson was happy as he normally is.

Grandparents were around to help make the morning special.

Kids were dressed in their beautiful Easter clothes made specially by my mother-in-law.

After a few takes, they started growing a little apprehensive.

A little unsure...

Saying a prayer to make the wild child calm down.

And then something just snapped.

And it got worse.

And worse.

And I lost them...

Happy Easter from one very tired Easter bunny!

Happy Easter

Before it gets too far gone, I'm sending out a big Happy Easter to you! I don't know if your Easter week was quite as exciting as mine, but I hope you found time to enjoy and appreciate the things that truly matter in life.

I've already posted about our biggest news this week, little Tyson. I thought I would share some of our Easter pictures and the days that surrounded it. Since my sister gave birth Thursday, we spent the rest of the week in her area which also happens to be 5 miles from my in-laws house. They were gracious enough to let my little family of 3 plus my parents bunk up at their house while T was in the hospital. That meant we ended up celebrating Easter morning at their house.

First things first Easter mornings (no matter where we are), we must search the house to find where the Easter bunny left us our Easter basket. And of course by 'our' I mean Cheyanne...

Found it!

Now from this point on, almost every Easter picture you'll see will have a lollipop in it. I mean, if the Easter bunny gives you lollipops, you have to eat them even if it is 8am! Or so Cheyanne thinks.

What can I say? The girl loves lollipops.

Poor Jameson watched the festivities from afar.

But before you think I'm a horrible mother that forgot to remind the Easter bunny about the second child, Jameson got his basket later when we got to Auntie T's to see Tyson (and TT and Uncle Jonny). Of course the boys needed matching Easter baskets with all matching presents, matching swim trunks, bath ducks, monkey toys, etc.

Once the Easter dress went on, the lollipop had to go. Amazing that her favorite Easter present despite the toys, clothes, and candy was a blank notebook for writing. This girl loves to write and draw so she requires her own drawing book or every single scrap of paper at home would be covered in doodles.

I think they both had a pretty good Easter. Jameson's first Easter was a success and Cheyanne's 3rd Easter wasn't all about the babies which was a success in her mind I'm sure after the days she had leading up to it.

Happy Easter!

Now, before you're done checking out our Easter, visit my second Easter post. Trust me. Its worth it. Too many pictures for one post, so I just made it two.

Not quite twins

I could not be happier to announce that Jameson's new best friend is finally here!! Tyson Ezra made it a little early because he just couldn't wait to meet his cousin. I'll be the first to admit that never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect my sister and I would be pregnant at the same time. Nor did I ever expect for us to both have sons 2 1/2 months apart! It is too perfect.

I am so excited about this little boy. I'm excited for my sister and brother-in-law of course. I am excited about being an aunt (again). But more than anything, I am cuh-razy excited for Jameson. He gets a built in best friend along with a not-quite-twin cousin. My sister is my best friend and there is almost 8 years between us. I can't even begin to think of the fun times these 2 little boys are going to have growing up being the exact same age. Of course, I wish we lived much closer together so they could 'really' grow up together but I'll do a 7 hour drive anytime to get these boys together.

The only rule that has already been written for them is "Jameson you are not allowed to eat or squash Tyson." Here's why…

Two and a half months apart people. That's the difference. Tiny Tyson makes my Jamesy look like the freakin' baby hulk, doesn't he?! I'm sure the size difference won't always be quite so evident but this picture seriously cracks me up every time I look at it.

Remind you of any Arnold Swartzenager movies?? T, don't get upset… I'm not saying your offspring will become a little Danny Devito I swear! Just for now I'll enjoy the big small ratio. :)

So, with that, you'll be hearing a lot of fun stories about these two in the future I'm sure. Tyson, I'm so glad you are here sweetie! Aunt Molly loves you!
