We made it!!

We're a family of 3 again- finally! And we're living this new exciting life in our new hometown of CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA!!!! (That's my official announcement of assignment for all of you climbing the wall in curiousity- HA).

We've closed on the house, painted two living rooms, began random repairs in the home, spent our first night in the house after 4 nights in the base hotel, and began exploring our new city. Oh, and we've come back to VA for a few days to move our stuff in a DITY move. I haven't actually slowed down enough yet to take in whats happening. Thus the MAJOR lack in blogging. Well, that and the fact that we are living without internet right now for at least another week after we return home.

Other things I haven't slowed down to think about yet- my baby is going to be ONE way too soon. The 16th is coming up very fast and I am not ready for this big day yet. Mentally, at least. I had to her party planned but because of some last minute issues (like our trip back to VA to get our furniture) we had to do a last minute change and move it to VA for this weekend. Ahhh! So much to do. No breaks in sight. I'll be cooking and decorating all day tomorrow then celebrating with family and friends on Saturday. I'll hold back the tears for now. I'll fill you in how it all goes later on.

For now, I'll leave a few sneak peak pics. Remember, no furniture or decorations means semi-bland Before/After pictures, so consider these Before the After pictures.

More to come... Thanks for being a part of this adventure with us :)

On the road again (almost)

Bags are packed. Boxes have been labeled. And the cars are stuffed (to the roof- literally).  This can only mean one thing in my life.

Its almost time to get a movin' again. Like less than 12 hours now! For the 23rd time in my life (seriously) Its. About. Time. Thankfully, this move is a pretty big "final" move. Final for at least the next few years anyways.

The Giant has his final flight test on Monday and then should be heading our way south shortly afterwards WHEN he passes. Anticipated is putting it mildly. A family of three is finally just within reach. Friends, if you've been following me over the last ten months of my family separation, you know how relieved I really am.

We close on the new house Tuesday and then things start rollin'. My parents are kind enough to be driving down with Cheyanne and I to help us for the first few days before Hubs arrives some time later in the week. Poor Hubs has never even actually seen our home we buying (whoever heard of such a thing- ah so is military life), so this should be a fun week. Don't worry, I know he'll love it.

I'll be sure to take some fantastic BEFORE pictures. Fingers crossed, the AFTER pictures don't follow too far behind. Of course, there is the initial move over the next few days, then there is the BIG move of moving things from our storage in Hurricane Beach Virginia Beach, then there is the little princess' first birthday party... then comes the AFTER attempts. Whew, I'm already exhausted thinking of my next month. Thankfully my excitement is taking over my exhaustion.

I'll let you know how it all goes!! Wish me luck!! And send up some prayers for the Giant on his final flight test. Its a doozie and he's sweatin' it. Pray hard because we need him home!

Non-shaking earthquake

I wish I had some exciting story to share with you about today's surprise 5.9 earthquake, but I DON'T! Cheyanne's first earthquake and we didn't even feel it. Is it weird that I'm so bummed about this fact?! We were driving when it happened so we didn't even feel a little tremble. Disappointing non-shaking earthquake.

So, since I have no earth shattering or sink hole quake news to share, I'll catch you up on what's been going on here in ThisWoodHouse land. Three words (well really one word repeated three times). Packing packing packing. That's my life the last few days. I'm packing clothes. I'm packing furniture. I'm packing my sanity life. With less than a week before we make the big move, I'm using every moment of the day to get ready. Crossing off lists and adding more things on it to be crossed off. Anyone else out there add things to lists after they're done just to cross them off? It makes me feel accomplished seeing all those crossed lines. Now that D Day is so close, I can't get away with my usual "Attempt to do x" on my lists just to cross it off at the end of the day if I attempted. Nope. We're in crunch time.

I haven't had time to snap any good pictures but I think I'll share a few of Miss Cutie off my phone.

And this one just cracks me up. Ah I love special photo effects. Seriously, I dare you to look at this and not laugh.

MIA explanation

Well, you may think I'm joking when I say we are a giant and a dwarf living a life of transition, but, nope. Transition is very real in our lives, especially right now. So, I'm alive. I promise. And am still very pregnant. There's just a LOT going on right now. Let's see.

At work, they've brough in a temp for two weeks for me to train. She will replace me when I'm gone so I'm cramming everything in so she is well prepared. But, that leaves me with a shadow all day long, so no blogging. I figure its probably not the best idea to teach her my "bad habits" of waisting time. HA! I don't think its a waist. Most days, my blog is the only thing I look forward to at work. Shh. And...

We moved! I say it was a split second decision, but it is a well thought out split second decision. We have a friend that has had his house on the market since February (he suddenly had to move to Colorado then and put the house up for sale. Well its sat there and sat there. So, we suggested we move in to it for a month to month agreement, helping out both sides. We pay a little towards his mortgage, he keeps it on the market, we have a place to live on our own for a while. WIN! So, Friday we decided. Saturday we packed up. Sunday we moved. Now, we have a little 3 bedroom house in a great location (with no internet :( )all to ourselves before Peapod comes! Its just temporary until the Giant gets his final leave orders, but shoot, it got us out and that's exactly what I- I mean we- needed. Its been great so far. We've missed our life alone together. And I think now more than ever we need that. Cause come a few weeks, we'll never be alone again! Speaking of which...

35 WEEKS! I am now 35 weeks. What does that mean? 35 days until our little Peapod meets the world and the world meets her! Holy Moly! I'm shooting for less than 35, so we're doing what we can to help her along... ;) Come along my little tiny dancer. We are excited to meet you! I've been paying close attention to every one of her movements the last few weeks. I don't want to forget this time. I will miss that the most, might be the only thing I really miss about this. Even with the oh-so-sore ribs, I know I will still miss the weird alien belly movements that have my middle jumping all day long.

I will do my 35 week survey the first chance I get, but unfortunately not now. My shadow is back. See ya!
