Mystery puke

What am I doing right now? Four of my favorite things...
1. snacking on balsamic vinegar and olive oil with Italian bread
2. downing sipping some delicious cabernet sauvignon
3. enjoying all of the windows open on this sunshiny day while baby girl takes a nap
4. watching the Ellen show (I have got to get to LA to see her!)

Momma needed a big break after the last 16 hours. Whew! Let's recap.

Just as I was getting snuggled in bed around 11:45pm last night, my little one started to rustle in her bed. Since I've been trying to let her learn to put herself back to sleep (epic fail) I waited a few minutes to see if it was a real rustling or if she was just moving around. Well, it was real. So I went in to her room and patted her for a few minutes which did the job. For a few minutes. I got back in bed. Just as I was dosing off, rustling again over the monitor. Dang it. Ok, up again, shooshing and back to sleep. Repeat walking back to my room. Before I even could lay down, "Waaaaaahhh!" This is about the time I thought, okay, I give up. I picked her up (which instantly excites her like its the 4th of July) to nurse her knowing full well that with a full belly she can't resist sleeping for a few hours. Bingo, so I thought. We did the routine, nursed, baby in dream land, back down to bed. Finally back in bed, I sleep, for 15 minutes. And then the fun really began. She wasn't asleep... I'm pretty sure at this point, I muttered to myself, "Are you kidding me???! This never happens." I get in her room and peak over her crib. I was instantly spotted which led to a squeal and then a "Bllleeeehhhhhh" (this is the only spelling I could come up with for the puking sound). I grabbed her up quickly which then caused more bllleeehhhhhh'ing. All over poor baby. All over poor Momma. All over poor baby's bed, blankets, and Mr. Bear.

Didn't I feel instantly horrible! Peapod couldn't sleep because she wasn't feeling good. :( No idea what brought on this mysterious puking though.

However, I swear as soon as that last bleehh happened, she was nothing but smiles and squeals. I was not however. I might have gone into panic mode. I'm not one to ask for much help with her but this one was beyond me. So, next came "Moooom! I need you!" And thankfully here came my half asleep mother to save the day night from this puke covered Momma. While I changed baby and myself, Mom changed ALL the bedding. (What would we do without our Moms?). Once it was all taken care of, I laid down with Peapod in the guest bed and we tried to go to sleep. Well I tried. She was still too wired from our sudden midnight party. After twenty minutes of trying, my again half asleep Mom came and took over to let me get a few hours sleep. She got baby to finally fall asleep in her own bed and slept in the guest bed until I took over again. Baby slept until around 5:30am at which point I got up and switched with Mom so she could go sleep in her own bed. After feeding the baby, I slept the rest of the morning in the guest bed until it was time for us to get up around 8am.

Fast forward to about 2pm when I decided it was time to make a quick trip to the grocery store. Baby and I got ready in our pretty sundresses and headed out.

Now it is important to know here that baby has been acting fine all day today. Besides no poop yet today, she was acting as normal as always. fifteen minutes in the grocery store and we were out like a flash. I got her to the car and started to pick her up out of her stroller when I felt something a little gooey not normal.  After a long sigh, I looked down and, yep, explosion. SHOOT! Right through her pretty sundress even. It was big. Out her diaper, up her belly, down her legs, everywhere. Since we weren't done with our errands, I quickly reached in her diaper bag, while holding poopy child, for a change of clothes. You know. The change of clothes that I never leave the house without. Well, apparently I do. DANG IT (said with other not so proper language)! What to do? I have no change of clothes. I have a poop covered baby. What else was there to do? I stripped her down to her nothings. Wiped her off as good as I could. Got her in her carseat and rushed home. We took a quick impromptu bath and put her down for a nap.

And here we are.

Ahh, my glass of wine. Where have you been all of my day?

Tonight is swim class, so since its taken me entirely too long to write this, its time to wake baby girl up and get her in her bathing suit.

Hope you had a more relaxing 16 hours than I did. But if not, wine always does the trick for me! Bottoms up!

________
I just realized how long this post is. Oops! Thanks for lasting this long through my minute by minute rambling. You must love me if you lasted that long.

  1. not sure what to say other than "sorry". I can't share a similar story except, "One time, Kaya..." but I have a feeling that won't cut it on this one.
Glad mom was there to help and glad that it sounds like things are calming down a little.
Still planning a trip over there this summer!
